Massimo Giacon
was born in Padova in 1961.
Since 1980, he has been working in Milan as a cartoonist, illustrator,
designer, artist and musician. Since the early eighties, he has been
at the centre of an Italian cartoon renaissance, which has produced
magazines such as "Frigidaire", "Alter", "Dolce
Vita", "Cyborg" and "Nova Express".
In 1985 he started working with an architectÕs studio, Sottsass
Associati, honing his design skills by working with Matteo Thun, Studio
Mendini, Sieger design, and for Memphis, Artemide, Alessi, Swatch, Philips,
Ritzenhoff and Telecom.
In 1990 he launched an art project that was to lead both to many single-artist
and group exhibitions in Italy, Switzerland, America, Greece and Portugal.
In 1994 he became involved with graphics for telecommunications networks,
web sites and CD Roms.
After a decade of playing music with a number of groups, 1996 saw the
release of his first solo album, "Horror Vacui". He has also
designed hangings, rugs, ceramics, kitchen items, produced advertising
illustrations, worked with designers and fashion magazines (Romeo Gigli,
Elle, Glamour), created stands for international exhibitions and animation
for television.
He teaches in Milan at the European Institute of Design. He is currently
working on the production of various items for Alessi, designing computer
games, drawing cartoons for "Blue" and is still involved in
the world of music and of the performing arts.
